Your 'Finances' Fresh Start
Alistair Horscroft

The ‘Finances’ 25-point check list.

You have more natural energy when you are clear with your environment, health and emotional balance, money and relationships.

This fresh start check list will help you identify and concentrate on the key money areas that need attention. Completing the check list will give you strength, vitality and high self esteem

The check list is designed to be completed in a time frame of between 6 months to 1 year.

(This list owes much to the booklet 'Becoming a coach, the coach U method'. Thomas J Leonard although I have updated and changed where appropriate)

Here’s your 25 Point Checklist

I currently save at least 10% of my income. I am in the habit of 'paying myself first'.

I pay my bills on time virtually always and feel good when I do.

My income source / revenue base is stable and predictable and in alignment or moving towards where I truly want to be.

I know how much I must have to be minimally financially independent and I have a SMART plan to get there.

I have returned or made-good on any money I borrowed.

I have written agreements and am current with payments to individuals and companies to whom I owe money.

I have 3 months living expenses in a money market-type account and am now working towards 6 months.

I live on a weekly budget, which allows me to save and not suffer.

All my tax returns have been filed and all my taxes have been paid.

I currently live well, within my means. I am aware of my weekly expenses. I don't hide from what I actually spend and what I actually have to spend.

I have excellent medical insurance.

My assets (home, car, possessions, treasures) are well insured.

I have a financial plan for the next year that inspires and motivates me.

I have no legal clouds hanging over me.

My will is up to date and accurate.

Any parking tickets, alimony or child support is paid and current.

My investments do not keep me awake at night.

I know how much I am worth.

I am on a career/profession/business track, which is or will soon be financially and personally rewarding.

My earnings are commensurate with the effort I put in and the value I put on myself and my skill set.

I have no 'loose ends' at work.

I am in relationship with people who can assist in my career/professional development.

I rarely miss work due to illness.

I am putting aside enough money each month to reach financial independence.

My earnings outpace inflation, consistently.

The number of checked items on your list should be no more than 25…so take a 'fresh start' to your finances and get this list somewhere you can refer to it everyday. It won’t take long for you, and those that know you, to start to see and feel the changes.
