The Power of Your Inner Voice
Glen Campbell

The power of your ‘inner voice’ is extraordinary…it can play a defining role in whether you succeed or fail, live a fulfilled life or under achieve, enjoy life’s great abundance or struggle to make ends meet or experience true and sustained happiness in your life.

At The Mind Institute we study a great many books and practitioners on personal development yet find most don’t place anywhere near enough credence on the 'inner voice' subject yet tend to advise people to simply use positive ‘affirmations’ to establish greater control leading to a more positive outcome. While this is true to an extent, there is much more to your ‘little voice’ than meets the eye.

In the book The Power of Kabbalah (if you haven’t read it I strong recommend you do) it focuses on the inner voice far more acutely – there the inner voice is described as the ‘Opponent’; the ‘devil inside’ or more commonly the human ego, a menace that has one aim, to keep you from attracting more ‘Light’ into your life. And what is the ‘Light’?

Simply it is the God given experience of sustained happiness, harmony and fulfillment that comes from exercising your free will and choosing to be proactive rather than reactive, to be the cause rather than the effect, to be the creator rather than being created, to share rather than receiving.

The Opponent is constantly there trying to slow or halt any elevation of life. The Opponent is the one telling you to ‘react’ to everything that happens, to speak harshly to your partner, to view life’s challenges as bad, to attack the inconsiderate driver, to sleep in, to eat that chocolate or do your exercise some other time. The Opponent isn’t your friend. The opponent is simply that…your opponent, your ego out of control.

Those people that have a very clear understanding of who they are, their personal vision, purpose and values are less susceptible to the Opponent. Those 2-3% of the world’s population that have written goals and do something everyday to achieve them are better equipped to stave off the never-ending suppressing suggestions of the Opponent.

So start now by being aware that your Opponent is an antagonist who actually exists…then exercise your free will and counter attack. Be more determined to stick to your plan. Say “No!” to the Opponent and proactively get on with the task at hand…one task at a time. Be at Cause. Create. Welcome challenges. Take control. Share.

But be warned, the Opponent won’t give up and will be there every step of the way trying, with all the cunning of a gutter rat, to slow your progress and keep you away from the ‘Light’. So the battle will be continuous and must rage on. Those that are vigilant and relentlessly resist the Opponent will move closer to the Light and enjoy a higher level of spiritual existence. An existence where you will more often experience the happiness, fulfillment and prosperity that is there for us all in an infinite supply.
